Life often brings us to crossroads, moments where choices are not just decisions but transformations waiting to unfold. Some choices arrive quietly, almost unnoticed, like a faint whisper. Others come with a roar, shaking the very ground beneath our feet. And in those moments, we are called to listen, to feel, to leap – even when clarity seems distant.
During my exhibition in Dubai, I received two messages, each holding the weight of possibility. The first left me trembling. It came cloaked in doubt, laced with words that stirred insecurity and hesitation within me. It was a shadow, dark and consuming, questioning everything I thought I was capable of.
But then came the second message. It wasn’t loud or grand: it was humble, pure, and profoundly simple. A young girl approached me, carrying a small painted soldier in her hands. She had chosen red and yellow, two colours that have always spoken to my heart . Without words, she offered it to me, her eyes filled with the untainted honesty that only children possess.
Two doors opened that day. One whispered fear, uncertainty, and the comfort of retreat. The other, placed gently in my hands by a child, whispered love, hope, and the courage to move forward.
We often think that we are the ones who choose, but perhaps the truth is that messages choose us too. They arrive in forms we least expect – in the words of a stranger, in the gesture of a child, or even in the silence of our own thoughts. These messages don’t demand our attention; they simply wait, like whispers in the wind, for us to lean in and listen.
But choosing isn’t always easy. The path of fear often feels familiar, almost safe, even as it keeps us confined. The path of courage, however, requires something far more challenging: trust. Trust in ourselves, in the unknown, in the leap.
When we stand at these crossroads, we don’t always have clarity. Sometimes, we must step into the fog, guided only by faith and the quiet pull of what feels right. And in that leap, in that act of choosing, we find not just a direction but a deeper part of ourselves.
Life rarely gives us certainty. It asks us to take steps without knowing exactly where they lead. The leap into the unknown isn’t about being fearless – it’s about moving forward despite the fear. It’s about trusting that clarity will come, not before the jump, but in the air, as we soar.
That day, I chose the message placed in my hands by the child. I chose hope, innocence, and light. And as I did, I realised that every choice we make has the power to transform not just our path but also our hearts.
The next time you stand at a crossroads, remember this: the messages are already there, waiting for you. Listen carefully, and let your heart guide you. You may not have all the answers, and that’s okay. The leap itself is the answer you seek.
Trust the whispers, even when they are faint. Trust the colours, even when they feel distant. And trust yourself, for within you lies the courage to choose the light.
This is a story of two messages, two doors, and one leap of faith. It’s a story of shadows and colours, of fear and hope. And most importantly, it’s a story of you – the protagonist of your own journey, standing at the crossroads, ready to choose.
Which message will you listen to today?
