Your voice is not just a sound; it’s your strength, your bridge to the world, and your most powerful tool for transformation. It is the echo of who you are, vibrating through every word and emotion. Look within, and listen closely – for your voice is calling you back, asking you to reclaim it and let it shine once more.
There is a coldness when we lose our voices. The warmth of expression and the glow of our inner fire seem distant old memories. We can remember a time when fear didn’t grip us, when we spoke freely, life felt full of possibility, and life was glorious. But when that voice is silenced, everything changes. The world grows dim, and the path ahead feels narrow, suffocating.
For me, losing my voice wasn’t just metaphorical – it was real, and it defined much of my early life. As a child of eight, living under the care of an uncle battling his own demons with alcohol, I became intimately acquainted with fear and silence. The tension in the air was thick, and every moment was filled with dread. I quickly learned that to be heard was dangerous, that silence was my shield, my survival. Even when I was sick, I held my breath, terrified of making a sound that might draw unwanted attention.
There were brief moments of relief, moments where the vibrant child I once was would return. In the safe arms of my grandparents, I could speak, laugh, and feel the life within me. But those moments were fleeting, and when my uncle returned, I retreated back into the fortress of silence. My nights were haunted by nightmares, visions of screaming for help, but no sound would come. My lips would move, but the world remained deaf to my cries – a harrowing symbol of my reality.
This silence followed me for years, a shadow that stretched over my life, shaping my decisions and keeping me trapped in fear. I became skilled in the art of suppressing my voice, and with it, my truth. It wasn’t until I reached my early forties, in the safety of a singing class, that something inside me began to stir. My instructor, with a simple question, unknowingly unlocked a door I had kept closed for decades: “Where do you feel the block in your voice?”.
That question was like a key turning in a lock, releasing a flood of memories. I suddenly understood that the silence I had been living with wasn’t just in my voice, it was in my soul too. And it was time to reclaim it.
In my work as a holistic photographer, I have made it my mission to capture more than just an image. I capture the essence of a person, their light, their beauty, their story, their voice. Through my lens, I guide women towards their own transformation, helping them rediscover the parts of themselves that have been hidden, silenced, or forgotten. My camera has become an extension of my own voice, a tool through which I empower others to break free, to step into their own light, and to reclaim their power.
The journey to reclaim our voice is not easy, but it is vital. I know the fire in your eyes, the restlessness that burns within you. I know the frustration of feeling trapped, of wanting to speak but not knowing how. But that fire is your beacon. Let it guide you. Remember the times when you spoke without fear, when your voice was full of life and you felt unstoppable. That voice still exists within you, waiting to be heard.
Our voice is the gateway to our true selves. It is the sound of our soul, the language of our deepest truths. It is through our voice that we connect with others, express our dreams, and bring our inner world into the light. For many, the voice remains buried beneath layers of fear, trauma, and doubt. But by reclaiming it, we can free ourselves from these chains and transform not only our lives but the lives of those around us.
Our voice is not a mere sound. It is the embodiment of your essence. It holds the power to heal, to liberate, and to inspire. When you find your voice, you find yourself. And when you use it, you change the world.
So, I invite you: listen to yours. Let it break free from the shadows. Let it roar, let it whisper, but most of all, let it be heard. Your voice has the power to create, to heal, and to lead others towards their own liberation.
And when you speak from the depths of your soul, you’ll find that your voice is not just yours, it belongs to the world. It is the instrument of your thoughts, the manifestation of your soul, and the key to your liberation.
It is in this collective expression that we find strength, unity, and, ultimately, healing.
So, let it become glorious !
Let us all strive to use our voices not only to speak, resonate and liberate ourselves but also inspire those around us to find and use their voices too.
With Love and Roses,
Jussara
